 The lack of information is something of the past, nowadays we are facing the opposite problem, a massive flood of information that we can not manage. No one can watch thousand TV channels, listen to thousand radio channel, follow thousand page on social networks, read thousand newspaper, It's impossible. Most of the time people will choose information sources that they trust and they will stay loyal to them for years.


Now, if those sources are too much biased, you may end up taking wrong paths and making bad decisions.

Wrong information may lead individuals or organisation to failure, organisation uses interviews to collect information on individuals in screening processes like : job screening, public law enforcement, ...


How to know if they are teling the truth?


On the 26 Apr. 2021 rachel strauss published a post on diamondchallenge.org announcing MADS (Micro-expression Anomaly Detection System) as the 1,500 USD winner of the Gore Topical Prize for innovation excellence in business entrepreneurship. MADS is the next generation lie detector that accurately detects deception by analyzing facial micro-expressions and vocal sentiments.


MADS use audio and video analysis with a scoring system that allow to increase evaluation accuracy to 94%


Content credibility

The internet empowers freedom of expression and Social media are designed for sharing, but what about the source, the neutrality, the editor, the images.


How to verify content credibility?


On the 11 May 2021, Sacramento kings published a press release announcing the 10,000 USD winner of 2021 capitalize crowd-sourced startup contest, it's Credder, the world's largest news review platform, aggregating credibility reviews on articles, authors and outlets, rated by verified journalists and the public. Credder's scores can be licensed by social media, search engines, web browsers and news aggregators who are under increasing pressure from their users, the media and regulators to adress content credibility issues on their own platforms.


Media literacy

According to the national center for education statistics: literacy is understanding, evaluating, using and engaging with text to participate in the society, to achieve one's goals and to develop one's knowledge and potential.


Understanding and evaluating are skills that adults struggle with when the subject is too specialized or too specific to be experienced in the real world by every one.


How kids deal with those situations?


On the 19 May 2021, Meghan Cadue published an article on voltaeffect.com announcing Pressto as a 25,000 CAD investment winner of volta pitch competition. Pressto is a website that helps to develop media literacy, critical thinking & strong writing skills by making journalism easy and lovable for k-12 students.


Pressto gives kids the opportunity to kids to be a journalist, it's the best way to understand how it works and how human bias may take place in the process.
