Many startups are interested in ice ! Approaching different problems, like small spaces in fridge freezers, ice coating metal surfaces and ice accumulating in pitched and flat roofs in residential and commercial buildings, causing water leaks.
Three ice startups were announced startup competition winners in April and Mai 2021, The first is FREEZER SMART announced winner of 2021 bronco pitch competition on the 21 April 2021 by western Michigan university. freezer smart is a durable, metal storage system that helps people with freezer units at the top of their fridge organize their frozen items for maximum space, visual display and ventilation. Uniquely designed to be adjustable both vertically and horizontally.
The second is NIVERA SOLUTIONS, announced on the 8 April 2021 by Arkansas capital as the winner of 2021 Arkansas governor's cup collegiate business plan competition / high growth technology division, It's a product that keeps ice from coating a metal surface. The technology has been developed by SURFTEC ENGINEERING, to help you understand, we can say it's like a cooking stove that does not stick because we applied PTFE also known as Teflon to it.
NIVERA SOLUTIONS may offer two procedures to apply PTFE composite films: dip coating and spray coating. It's a very valuable solutions in harsh environmental conditions endured by marine, aerospace and wind energy installations.
The third is FLOE, winner of 2021 Miller prize, as announced in an article published by Tsai center for innovative thinking on the 3 May 2021, Floe is a system that pumps deicing fluid onto the pitched and flat roofs in residential and commercial buildings, it's a deicer that create channels for water to drain. A lot of building use ice-melting cables to heat the roof, but this raise energy consumption and cost.
FLOE and NIVERA SOLUTIONS won 25,000USD each, FREEZER SMART won 2,000USD.
