Startups are trying to deploy some technology models in this industry, like developing a specific mobile app for hair or a robot to automate braid take-down which show that technological advance can change nearly everything even our hair.

Chemotherapy

On the 16 November 2021, intertradesirland published an article announcing LUMINATE MEDICAL as connacht & leinster seedcorn competition regional "best early stage" winner with EUR 50,000 prize, LUMINATE MEDICAL is developing a wearable medical device that helps cancer patients prevent chemotherapy induced hair loss.

One of MOTOR CITY MATCH Detroit business grant program 2021 second quarter winners is AMORA LUXE. According their website, it's one-stop-shop hair care center offering :

One of the ARCH GRANTS competition 2021 cohort members is BASK & BLOOM ESSENTIALS. According to their website, it's a beauty brand focused on multi-textured hair that offers intense moisture with protection from breakage.

On the 16 April 2021, George Washington university published a video on vimeo announcing UNRAVL as the winner of two prizes, the new venture track with USD 10,000 and the best women's venture prize with USD 10,000 award.

UNRAVL is a device project that integrate automation and robotics for braid take-down.

Hair removal

On the 6 July 2021, FUTURPRENEUR published a pres release announcing SUGR WAX INC as one of the recipients of RBC ROCK MY BUSINESS START-UP AWARDS/EMERGING BLACK ENTREPRENEUR AWARD with CAD 10,000 prize, SUGR WAX INC is offering a home sugaring paste for hair removal as an alternative to salon services or the chemicals and residues involved with waxing.
